Quakers Lane Surgery is looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience of working in primary care to work alongside and support the existing team. The post is 16 hours per week (increase in hours negotiable)

Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the role

-Phlebotomy + INR Management

-Urinalysis

-Blood pressure recording

-Carrying out ECGs

-Assist with chronic disease reviews, particularly Diabetes (Foot Care)

-Carrying out NHS health checks

-Ensuring all GP rooms are fully stocked

-Immunisations (not essential, training can be provided)

-Educate patients about their health and wellbeing so that they can develop their knowledge and understanding empowering them to be as self managing as possible.

-Opportunistically record QOF related information within skill set

Qualifications

Essential basic literacy and numeracy skills; NHS Level; competent in Phlebotomy.

Quakers Lane Surgery is a semi rural practice based in Richmond, North Yorkshire. Serving approximately 6300 patients.

Quakers Lane Surgery has 4 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 2 Practice Nurses & 2 Health Care Assistants.

We are a dispensing practice.

We are open 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

1. To carry out all the above duties to our patients.

2. Comply with all in house and statutory Health & Safety procedures

3. Attend training courses in house and externally to develop expertise and further knowledge.

4. Attend Practice Meetings.

5. Any duty that may be properly deemed by the Practice Manager, Doctors or Practice Nurses to be part of the role of Healthcare Assistant.

6. It is important that all members of staff are prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish existing duties to maintain efficient running of the practice. The Practice manager, Doctors and Nursing Team reserve the right to re-distribute duties and functions amongst members of staff from time to time and requests for such changes shall not be reasonably refused.

7. The ability to work as a team to ensure your own & your colleagues holidays are covered between yourselves in a fair and organised manner.

Community Infection Prevention and Control:

Infection Prevention and Control is everyones responsibility. The staff member will ensure that they follow the organisation Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Guidance to protect patients, staff and visitors from healthcare associated infections. They will also ensure that they perform the correct hand hygiene procedures as described in the Infection Control Policy.
