Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our team. We see Pharmacy Technicians as a key clinical resource, delivering excellence in patient health and care while supporting our practice with everything about medicines and prescribing.
You will join our friendly Practice Clinical Pharmacy Team consisting of one Clinicial Pharmacist, two Pharmacy Technicians, and three team administrators.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to provide key pharmacy expertise to our wider team. A Pharmacy Technicians core role responsibilities will cover clinical, and technical and administrative categories.
The purpose of the role is to lead improvements to maximise safe, cost effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. The post holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.
You will manage your own workload to provide patient advice on medication related issues, assist the practice team with prescribing related tasks and process clinical tasks, letters, and discharges. You will help support the practice and wider PCN as necessary with core medicine optimization activities and ensure the safe and effective use of medicines utilizing a wide range of safety searches to ensure we care for all our patients
In addition, the post holder will be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout the practice teams and promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments. This will involve assisting the PCN in achieving national requirements, NICE implementation and utilisation of ICB medicines optimisation initiatives.
