Job summary

We are looking for an additional motivated General Practitioner to become part of our friendly, excellent team. We welcome all applications from experienced and newly qualified GPs wishing to work part time. Our practice serves over 10000 patients across two sites.

We have a hard-working, friendly and dedicated team of 5 GP Partners, 2 salaried GP, registrars, 1 ANP and a highly skilled nursing team and outstanding administrative support teams. All staff members at the practice are supported by the partners and the Practice Managers. We are a training practice CQC rated outstanding, we are members of the A1 Network PCN.

This is a part time position for 4-6 sessions.

Main duties of the job

Undertaking the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care including but not limited to:

Patient consultations (in person, video calls, telephone calls, home visits).

Checking and signing repeat prescriptions / queries.

Checking patient medical test results.

Completing patient medical reports and examinations.

Supporting paperwork and related administrative work.

Remain aware and compliant with all relevant practice policies guidelines including but not limited to Data Protection, Confidentiality, Health & Safety, any relevant clinical guidelines etc.

Ensure practice processes and protocols are adhered to at all times.

Patients trust us with highly sensitive information and you will have access to this information this must all be treated with utmost confidentiality and respect for the privacy of the patients.

Ensure you follow Health & Safety policy to promote and maintain your own and others health, safety and security at all times.

Support the equality, diversity and rights of patients and colleagues to foster a culture of respect and inclusivity.

Maintain current CPR, Basic Life Support and Anaphylaxis certification.

The role of a Salaried GP is to work with our whole team to deliver the highest quality primary care service to our patients. More specifically, Salaried GPs will be responsible for seeing patients, working with our multidisciplinary team and undertaking the normal duties / responsibilities associated with a GP working in Primary Care.

Key clinical responsibilities

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems (self-referred by the patient or referred by others in the practice).

Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Managing patients with long term conditions and developing care plans.

Referring to other case providers as appropriate.

Audits of patient care and outcomes.

Prepared to represent the practice in PCN or other local meetings if required.

Prescribing (both acute and repeat) in accordance with local and national guidelines.

Ensure that your work is recorded and auditable.

Recording clear and contemporaneous notes to professional standards.

Collecting data for audit purposes / complying with national requirements.

Working with the Practice Management team to ensure patient data is accurate and up to date on the clinical system.

Using our relevant IT systems including EMIS Web in all cases where possible.

Balance patient care and time management effectively. Ensure the service runs efficiently and effectively.

Treat all patients with respect, dignity, warmth and empathy to ensure patients feel cared for and have a positive experience in the practice.

Whilst maintaining the above, you must also manage the demanding primary care workload to ensure that the practice is able to care for its whole patient population in a timely yet effective manner.

Ensure the team is working safely and effectively together at all times.

Identify any issues and work with the Practice Management team to develop the practice to achieve high standards of quality and performance.

Caring for colleagues enabling a strong absence management system.

For planned absences, ensure handover of your work to colleagues to ensure that patient care and practice workload doesnt suffer.

In the case of unplanned absences, handover may not be possible, therefore its important to make sure that any work is up to date, clear and on our shared systems (e.g. EMIS, the shared drives, MS Teams) when you leave every day so that anyone could take over in the case of unplanned absence.

Working pattern and availability should be in accordance with practice timetable/rota as agreed with the Rota team.

Includes the full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contracts and additional/enhanced services where appropriate.

Statutory and practice requirements

Remain aware and compliant with all relevant practice policies / guidelines including but not limited to Data Protection, Confidentiality, Health & Safety, any relevant clinical guidelines etc.
