Eynsham Medical Group is a friendly, supportive and innovative training practice, providing primary care to over 16,000 patients across two sites. We are part of the Eynsham and Witney PCN.
We are seeking a dedicated Paramedic or Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Urgent Care Team at our Eynsham and Long Hanborough sites to provide patient access to both scheduled and unscheduled care provision.
Main duties of the job
The role will entail working alongside our two paramedics and involves coordination of care by telephone triage, delivering urgent and emergency care to patients in surgery and during home visits. The ideal candidate will be able to work as an autonomous practitioner and have minor illness and minor injury qualifications. Existing experience in primary care and a prescribing qualification are desirable but not essential.
This can be either a part or full-time post and shift hours are negotiable but would be to complement our existing team. Salary is negotiable dependent on experience. A full range of benefits are on offer including NHS pension. As this is an ARRS role, the successful candidate will need to meet the requirements for the First Contact Practitioners (FCP).

Job Summary:
- The primary focus of the role is to work as an autonomous practitioner providing high quality and timely patient centred care as part of the Urgent Care Team.
- The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referral and discharge of a diverse range of patients with urgent and acute conditions, often without reference to a doctor and within their level of competence.
Clinical Care:
- Act as a Paramedic or Advanced Nurse Practitioner, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and a knowledge base beyond those associated with conventional nursing roles.
- Triage patients on our Duty Doctor list.
- Undertake consultations with patients as an autonomous practitioner and using own clinical judgement to diagnose, treat, refer and/or discharge patients.
- Make direct referrals to primary, secondary and social services within locally agreed pathways, guidance and protocols.
- Provide clinical advice to Reception staff where required.
- Ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care, delivered in a timely manner.
- Ensure complete and accurate documentation of each and every patient contact.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner and as part of multi-disciplinary and multiagency teams to ensure patients needs are met.
- Visit patients at home where necessary
- Act as the emergency care lead for the practice, reviewing emergency protocols and providing updates and training to staff as appropriate.
