Job summary

Eynsham Medical Group (Eynsham Medical Centre & Long Hanborough Surgery) seeks an enthusiastic and motivated qualified RGN to join our friendly yet professional practice nurse team. We are looking for approximately 25 hours a week but we are happy to discuss.

Either the applicant will have treatment room experience and relevant chronic disease management qualifications, or the practice is prepared to support a suitable applicant with no practice nurse experience through the appropriate training.

The practice is part of the Community Research Network which can open up the opportunity for the successful candidate to become involved in our research studies.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities: - Provide direct patient care, including conducting assessments, administering medications, and performing treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers - Assist in the management of chronic conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension - Educate patients on preventive healthcare measures and promote healthy lifestyle choices - Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of care - Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation - Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations and guidelines

Skills: - Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to effectively assess patient conditions - Excellent patient care skills, including the ability to provide compassionate and empathetic care - Proficient in administering medications and performing medical procedures - Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members - Attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and record keeping - Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide a high-quality care service based on the needs of the Practice population which includes treatment, screening, preventative care and patient education

Depending on training to diagnose/manage patients with chronic disease, running specific clinic sessions and maintaining robust call and recall systems

Participate in national screening work such as cervical cytology and deliver the national immunisation and vaccination schedule

Provide travel health advice and administer appropriate vaccinations

Treat patients for wound care management

National scheduled immunisations

Administering patient medication via injection

Perform cervical cytology

Contraceptive consultations

Act as chaperone when required

Undertake health promotion to help educate patients i.e. smoking cessation

Select, carry out and interpret results of specific tests

Break bad news to patients/parents/carers and provide appropriate ongoing support to meet identified needs

Phlebotomy, ECG, BP

Follow practice safeguarding policies and highlight any safeguarding concerns through the appropriate channels within the practice or wider organisations.

Administration

To maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed Read Codes

Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care

To collect data and participate in regular Practice audit and research projects

To contribute to the preparation of any Practice development plans

General

To maintain own annual registration with the NMC and adhere to Code of Professional Conduct

To maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all PHCT staff, patients, carers and co-workers from other agencies. Ensure all statutory regulations (e.g. Health & Safety, COSHH, etc) are implemented and adhered to

To promote a professional approach at all times by attire and attitude to patients and staff both in and out of the Practice

To maintain own continuous professional development and ensure PDP kept up-to-date in line with the requirements of the Practice

Attend and participate in staff and Practice meetings and in-house clinical training sessions

Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time-to-time
