Job summary

The Drayton Surgery is looking for a Salaried General Practitioner to join our growing team based in the north of Portsmouth, Hampshire. We are looking for between 4 and 6 sessions per week.

As a Salaried GP with us you will join a team of experienced GPs, supported by a strong ANP team with the assistance of Practice Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers.

We are committed to training and development, as well as our clinicians being able to do work they enjoy - we welcome areas of special interest and currently have clinicians specialising in Minor Surgery, Joint Injections, Womens Health and Palliative/End of Life Care.

You will also be assigned a GP Partner Mentor who is there to provide you with guidance and advice when needed.

We believe in a work/life balance and the social elements of our working life is important to us. We meet for coffee each morning and host a series of events including a Summer party and a Christmas party.

Main duties of the job

As a Salaried GP at The Drayton Surgery you will provide consultations via eConsult, telephone and face-to-face. There is a fair and equal share of morning Triage clinics and afternoon Duty clinics, both worked with a peer to share the workload.

You will have your own patient list however any patient is able to see any GP. The Salaried GPs have a patient list size at 80% of that of a Partner and this is worked out based on session worked.

We work across two sites, our main site on the Havant Road in Drayton and a branch surgery on Wootton Street in Cosham.

The Surgery is headed up by the 6 GP Partners and the Practice Business Manager who work closely with all the other staff to ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day surgery.

Our patient demographic is broad and ranges from areas of high deprivation in the West to lower deprivation in the East. Our current patient list size is just shy of 24,000. Our clinical team is made up of 6 GP Partners, 7 Salaried GPs, 9 ANP's, 7 Practice Nurses, 3 Healthcare Support Workers and 2 Phlebotomists. In addition to this we work with PCN based staff including Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Social Prescribers, a Health & Wellbeing Coach, MSK FCPs, Mental Health Facilitators, a Cancer Care Coordinator and two home visiting Care Coordinators.

Our Admin team is made up of an Operations Manager, a Patient Services Manager, a QoF Manager, a Patient Experience Lead, 5 QoF administrators, 3 Secretaries, 4 Prescription clerks, an Assistant Reception Manager, 3 Senior Receptionists and approx. 20 receptionists.

We use TPP SytmOne and actively utilise the Ardens system to ensure coding and information is correct.
