Wansford and Kings Cliffe Practice has a vacancy for an experienced Practice Nurse for 3-4 days a week. (to include some 8am starts and some 6pm finishes)

There may be the opportunity to develop into a nurse lead role should you have or develop the necessary experience.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing care to the whole practice population across both Wansford Surgery and our branch surgery, Kings Cliffe.

To ensure the highest standards of care are provided for patients.

To deliver a high standard of patient care using specialist practice nursing skills.

Must be able to deliver a whole range of nursing duties to include but not limited to:-

ECG's, dressings, smears, travel vaccinations, baby immunisations, women's health

Our current nursing team comprises two part time practice nurses, a full time HCA, a part time phlebotomist and a full time Cardiology Specialist Nurse.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

The Practice Nurse should be able to undertake the full range of treatment room duties including cervical smears, baby and travel immunisations, chronic disease management including diabetes, asthma and COPD, dressings, ECG's etc

a. To assess the needs of patients ensuring the provision of healthcare is appropriate, incorporating evidence-based practice

b. To implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for chronic disease patients that promote health and wellbeing

c. To identify, manage and support patients at risk of developing long-term conditions, preventing adverse effects to patients health

d. As required, to provide routine nursing care to patients in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF

e. As required, to diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions

f. To request pathology services and process pathology results as required

g. To oversee the provision of chronic disease clinics, delivering patient care as necessary, referring patients to secondary/specialist care as required

h. To maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with extant legislation

i. To ensure the appropriate maintenance and use of chronic disease registers

j. To ensure compliance with the practice chaperone policy

k. To assist GPs with minor surgery when required
