Job summary

We have a great opportunity for someone who wants to be a HR Manager leading a busy HR Team that provides support to our practices across Bradford. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Human Resources Manager will ensure that all HR advice, guidance, administrative and transactional support is provided to the highest standard, in order to meet the operational needs of our organisation.

You need to be efficient, flexible and resourceful, with a calm and friendly manner and must have previous experience as a senior HR Advisor, educated to degree level and be CIPD (Level 5) qualified with active Membership. You need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to build positive relationships with people at every level. The successful post holder will need to enjoy a challenge, be a problem solver and enjoy developing and improving systems and processes. You will be dealing with confidential and sensitive information, so discretion and sound judgement are critical.

Main duties of the job

As Human Resources Manager you will work at a management level across the Affinity Care practices ensuring the organisation is robust in its application of HR processes, policies and procedures

You will manage the effective delivery of a high quality and professional Human Resources service providing focussed challenge, advice and guidance to managers in the organisation.

The role will support the COO in developing and supporting our Colleague Consultation Forum in delivering its aims and responsibilities and will also working alongside our clinical leaders you will support the development of our training academy and staff development programmes.

You will provide leadership and support to the HR team in their day to day activities and their ongoing development to ensure high quality, consistent service provision for the organisation, line managers and employees.

About us

We are Affinity Care Primary Care Network covering a population of over 64,000 patients over 7 GP practices and 8 sites, all in the Bradford area. Our ethos is to provide patient focused care based on the model of GP-led family orientated general practice tailored to local population needs. Our practices are highly accredited training practices, level 3 research ready sites within an embedded ethos of our learning organisation.

Responsibilities

The following key roles and responsibilities should be seen in light of ensuring we adhere to all statutory and legal requirements as well as meeting all CQC standards and cost effective good practice guidelines.

Organisational:

Use data and workforce information to plan and deliver targeted and specific interventions to improve employee relations and people management strategies

Provide quarterly reports to the COO on key workforce indicators: on sickness absence management, recruitment, appraisals and performance

Provide a monthly HR Activity Overview reports to the COO

Develop and revise HR strategy, policies and processes are robust and based on current legislation, best practice and operational needs of the organisation

Ensure the continuous development of the HR service, safeguarding standards and services to be applied consistently across all practices

Support the COO in leading and developing the Colleague Consultation Forum, engendering open, transparent, trusting employee relationships

Ensure that practice which is not in line with sound HR principles is challenged and work with line managers to identify and implement alternatives

Support all employees in matters relating to their employment terms and conditions including ways of working and dignity at work:

Support with queries in respect of contractual terms and conditions e.g. holiday entitlement, hours of work, flexible working patterns

Provide empathy, advice and support for our people in relation to grievances, cases of bullying and harassment, health concerns, return to work following mid to long term absences

Consider at all times the health and well-being of our people

Provide advice for our people with any learning and development needs that will support and

Leadership and Management

To manage the HR & Payroll Teams on a day to day basis including the delegation of work as appropriate in order to ensure consistent high quality advice and support is offered to managers

Provide direction to the HR & Payroll Teams to motivate and support them to achieve the objectives of the services and their own personal objectives

Liaise with colleagues in the team to ensure that work across the HR department is allocated fairly and equitably, taking into account the need to provide adequate and consistent cover

Ensure that annual leave is authorised, recorded and monitored for the team, through the appropriate systems

Work effectively as part of the wider Human Resources team, and work in partnership to achieve departmental objectives and key performance indicators

Working collaboratively with the HR Team propose and suggest new ideas to improve the service based on feedback from Partners, managers and employees

Other

You will be required to work at other premises owned or associated to the practice. This will be subject to reasonable request in terms of travel compared your routine site of work. You may also be asked from time to time to be flexible in your working hours as per the needs of the practice.

Give good and regular attendance.

Maintain a tidy and organised work area

Any other duty as requested commensurate with the role, including covering for absent colleagues.
