Job summary
We are looking for a Practice Manager to join our dynamic and highly motivated team delivering excellent healthcare for our NHS Surgery. It is initially on a Temporary Contract for 1 year and with a successful mutual assessment, it can progress to a permanent position.
You will ideally have some experience in a General Practice setting together with an understanding of the rapidly changing healthcare environment. Applications will also be welcomed from non-Primary Care Managers who are able to identify transferable skills that can support our practices and demonstrate an understanding of current demands within Primary Care.
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills together with proven experience in managing people and monitoring performance targets is required. You must be highly self-motivated, organised and able to motivate your team.
The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, be confident with IT and enjoy working flexibly in a rapidly changing environment.
You will have the aptitude to support practice engagement with the wider health economy as required, such as local Primary Care Networks, local Practice Manager networks and Community Care providers, to ensure that we are consistently kept aware of best practice and new developments.
You should work with GP partners assisting them to deliver an excellent primary care to our patients.

The Monarch Medical Centre is a well-established 2 partner
training practice situated in Greater Manchester, serving 3700 registered
patients. The practice has a strong tradition of providing high quality,
patient centred care to our local community. We work with a team of two part time
pharmacists; one of our partners are GP trains medical students and we support a culture of
learning and development within the practice. We work with a very effective and

manager. There may be on occasion a requirement to carry out other tasks; this
will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
The practice manager is responsible for:
- Overseeing
the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their
primary responsibilities
- Functional
management of all administrative and clinical staff
- Operational
line management of the entire practice
- Managing
the recruitment and retention of staff
- Evaluate,
organise and oversee staff induction and training, and ensure that all
staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role
- Monitor
and manage sickness and holidays
- Develop
and implement effective staff appraisal and monitoring systems
- Implement
effective systems for the resolution of disputes and grievances
- Keep
abreast of changes in employment legislation
- Maintain
up-to-date HR documentation (including job descriptions, employment
