Job summary
Waterside Medical Centre is a well established NHS GP Practice conveniently located in the centre of Leamington Spa. We are looking for a medical receptionist care coordinator to join our friendly team with 16 hours available.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a public facing role and have excellent customer service and telephone skills. NHS and GP Practice experience an advantage.
You will have regular working hours with opportunity for overtime. Our opening hours being 7:30am to 6:30pm Monday and Friday and staff are required to work flexibly between these hours.
Main duties of the job
Medical receptionist care coordinators are most often the first contact point with the practice and their role is invaluable in coordinating the safe, caring and effective delivery of care to our patients.
The role will involve dealing directly with members of the public, coordinating care, making appointments, arranging repeat medication and dealing with medical correspondence.
Our reception care coordination team is led by our experienced and supportive reception manager and we are fortunate to have a loyal and long serving team with a wealth of experience.

Job responsibilities
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Process online consultations and AccuRx messaging
- Ensure that any problems not resolved by the end of a shift are communicated to fellow receptionist
- Receive and make telephone calls as required.
- Liaise with GPs and carry out tasks requested by them
- Action repeat prescription requests via EPS
- Chaperone patients if requested
- Computer data entry, processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
- Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc are filed promptly and in the correct records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
- Make and serve refreshments, ensure the kitchen is kept clean and tidy and air and tidy the waiting room in turn with other staff.
- Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
- Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners, the Practice Manager or the Senior Receptionist.
