Job summary
Due to internal progression, The County Practice is looking to recruit a part time medical
receptionist. You would be joining our expanding reception and admin team. Contracted hours
would be 35 hours perweek, typically
working Monday-Friday 7.45-15-45 with 30 min unpaid lunch. You would be expected
with notice to cover holidays and sickness as required.
Reception roles are evolving within GP practice. Two days are
never the same. Its a dynamic place to be from booking appointments, helping
patients order medication, supporting patient choices around services which best suit their needs and efficiently and supporting our clinical colleagues to provide
excellent care.
Our reception team are the centre of patient contact, supporting
the patients to access all of the services we have on offer. You will have
excellent communication skills and team working abilities.
Prior experience of working with clinical systems such as EMIS
or SystmOne would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be
given, so a willingness and ability to learn quickly will be key to your
success in this role.

successful candidate should demonstrate good communication skills, great
telephone manner and have excellent people skills dealing with people face to
face and on the telephone.

able to follow instructions and interpret information in a clear and concise
manner.
You will enjoy working as part of team and working closely with others, with the ability to work independently on a vareity of tasks.
Attention to detail is key as you will be dealing confidential patient records.

Nurses, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Administrators Receptionists and

The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
- Process telephone requests for appointments
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately.
- Update patients on their pathology results when required to
- Monitor Blood Pressure machine
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Process incoming and outgoing mail and emails
- Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Process hospital correspondence
- Photocopy documentation as required.
- File and store records as required.
- Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary.
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
- Manage all queries (including administrative queries) as necessary in an efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
Secondary Responsibilities
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the medical receptionist may be requested to:
a. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the rota.
b. Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required; loading and emptying of the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy.
c. Supporting staff cover for holidays and sickness, if necessary, also in the event of practice changes such as extended hours/late evenings or Saturdays.
