Job summary
The practice is looking to recruit 1 salaried GP's to cover maternity leave.
The post will be required to cover 6 sessions (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) from November 2025
We are a supportive practice located in Preston, Lancashire
Newly qualified GPs are welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The locum GP will be a key member of the team with duties to include
Surgery consultations, these will be undertaken using a variety of methods with the preference for consultations being face to face
Home visits including supporting palliative patients
Participation in the on call / duty rota and staying at least one day per week until 18.30
Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
Dealing with general queries
Dealing with paperwork and correspondence
Good organisational skills
Excellent communication skills, clear and effective
Good time management skills

About us
The practice is able to offer an opportunity to join our well established practice in the Preston. There are three surgery sites and there a mixed patient demographic which gives variety. We are a training practice with a supportive, team in an encouraging working environment.
We are a patient focused surgery with a high QOF achievement and strong links with our Primary Care Network. The position advertised to complement our diverse team.
The clinical platform is EMIS web complimented by Accurix
We are a GMS practice with a strong clinical and admin teams. The established team includes, 2 GP partners, 10 salaried doctors, 6 ANP, 4 practice nurses, 5 HCA / GPA; 4 pharmacists
The business and back-office functions are supported by an experienced Managers and a large pool of admin and reception staff.

- Delivery of highly effective medical care to the local population utilising face to face consultation with the ability to undertake video and telephone where appropriate
- The provision of services in-line with the GMS contract and the local ICB initiatives
- Prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
- Management of long-term conditions
- Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
- Undertake duty doctor roles on an agreed basis
- Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
- Working collaboratively participating practice workload
- Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
- Follow practice protocols and policies at all times
