Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Lead Doctor with a special interest in Womens Health to develop the Womens Health Hub for Central Liverpool Primary Care Network.

The post holder must be a competent and confident current LARC fitter and smear taker. They must also have knowledge and an interest in menopause management.

They must have leadership and managerial skills to manage and develop the Women's Health Hub and bring additional services on board.

The CLPCN hub is open 6 days per week (Monday - Saturday). We offer flexible working.

The post is for 2 x 4hr sessions per month.

Salary and Annual leave are in line with Agenda for Change.

Main duties of the job

To be actively involved in the development and growth of the Women's Health Hub in accordance with the Women's Health strategy. To be competent to fit LARCs and assist in the delivery of a menopause service.

Although we allow for some remote working (depending on the role) we want to make you aware that you will need to be based on-site to carry out your duties. We would also like to state that you will need to reside in Liverpool (or within the near vicinity).

The Central Liverpool Primary Care Network (CLPCN) is a group of nine GP practices, working collaboratively with the aim of improving health and wellbeing and addressing health inequalities in central Liverpool.

The Central Liverpool Primary Care Network have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Doctor for the Womens Health Hub for 2 x 4hr sessions per month.

The Womens Health Hub is a new service based on the Womens Health Strategy (DoH-2022) to help tackle inequalities for Womens Health. It will ensure there is equitable access to services and help to reduce disparities in womens health outcomes.

We have already developed a successful LARC service and are working with other agencies to bring additional services on board eg Menopause sessions.

The post holder must have substantial experience in Womens Health and be a competent, current coil and implant fitter and smear taker. They must also be able to demonstrate leadership and managerial skills.

The post holder will work as part of a multi -disciplinary team but they must be able to work autonomously and be competent when dealing with sexual health and womens health services including managing the menopause.

Principal Responsibilities:

Working with the ICB Womens Health committee and commissioners for service development within the Womens Health Hub.

Initiating new services and working with the Service Leads and commissioners.

Participation in audit/clinical governance issues such as record keeping, patient satisfaction. Maintaining and monitoring any requested details. Implementation of any actions required following audit with the aim of improving quality of services.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Clinical sessions for LARCs.

Helping to develop a menopause service for CLPCN.

Perform opportunistic cervical cytology.

Perform LARC telephone triage.

Participating in the teaching of other health professionals (to include junior staff and pre and post registration students) and other agencies as required.

Maintaining a high level of service to patients in the absence of a doctor and referral to alternative clinics/agencies as appropriate.

Facilitation of Learning:

To support the ongoing development of junior staff and colleagues and participate in monthly education updates

To provide mentorship/supervision to junior staff.

To contribute in the leadership of the Womens Health Hub.

Demonstrate problem-solving skills underpinned from perspectives, for example in research processes, service and quality improvement techniques, educational theory or leadership and management theory.

Participate in the implementation of CLPCN research projects. This may also include undertaking a piece of original research

Collaborate proactively with public health agencies and local authorities to ensure the Womens Health Hub is actively engaged in the health improvement strategies for the local community

Leadership & Management:

Able to assimilate information from a range of sources and ensure complex decisions reflect the analysis of these different perspectives even when limited information is available.

Actively participate in the development of CLPCN strategies and ensure collaborative working with others to translate this into practice development to improve the quality of care.

Able to apply the theoretical perspectives of change management to create an environment for successful change and practice development.

Able to lead on key aspects of quality assurance to develop robust outcome indicator and other aspects of clinical governance.

Where required undertake significant event auditing (or equivalent) and be skilled in undertaking objective investigations and in writing objective reports following the completion of the investigation.

Able to work effectively with a wide range of professionals and agencies and participate in multi- professional/agency strategies.

Evidence, Research & Development:

Involvement with review and monitoring of clinical policies to ensure they are based on contemporary evidence.

Involvement in clinical policy and research communities to identify deficits in evidence and identification of potential funding sources for practice or research development.

Contribute to the development of implementation of research and development strategies and applications for funding.

Collaborate with local research partners and universities to understand new projects, developments and findings and ensure frameworks for research governance are applied appropriately.

Where appropriate undertake research as a principal investigator.

Support the development of staff in research and practice development activities.

Present research findings in peer reviewed journals, at conferences and at other dissemination events or via electronic mechanisms.
