Job summary
To follow the
Coding Pathway to ensure the correct summarising and coding of patient
information. Direct clinical letters to the correct department within Brownlow
Health. Clear tasks, workflow, GP2GP amendments and work in accordance with the
team to complete work across all Brownlow Health sites.
All these duties will be completed whilst hitting
QOF targets and maintaining strict confidentiality.
Main duties of the job
Scanning Opening all post that comes into the
practice. Prioritising post that urgently needs to be seen by a clinician.
Using patient identifiers to put letters onto correct patients electronic
medical record. Assigning the letter in the form of a task to the correct
clinician/team member to be actioned.
Summarising care records The process of
transferring medical information from a patients paper record to an electronic
record, coding all important information (immunisations, procedures, diagnosis)
Workflow The process of
sorting/filing/organising patients medical records who have registered or left
the practice. Dealing with any amendments to patients medical records.
Coding Extracting all clinical information
from documents that arrive in the practice in an accurate and timely manner.
Electronically coding all important information such as immunisations,
procedures, diagnosis. Ensuring that the clinical document gets seen by the
correct clinician
Provide support and training to new starters and
colleagues.
All above done whilst maintaining strict confidentiality.

- A sound general education to GCSE level or equivalent, or equivalent working experience.
- A good standard of grammar and spelling in the English language.
