Job summary
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Practitioner wanting to work within the Initial Assessment Centre for Asylum seekers and refugees. This is a new and exciting role within Brownlow Healths Asylum Service which you will be able to shape and develop. As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will be confident and competent to assess and prioritise the needs of such patients and be confident to assess risk and agree a plan accordingly.
You will be an important member of our Multi -Disciplinary Team sharing your knowledge and expertise to ensure patients receive the best possible care in the right place at the right time.
Main duties of the job
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Practitioner to support a multi-disciplinary team in providing care for Inclusion Health groups. Brownlow Health is the largest provider of care to asylum seekers and refugees in the city and already has bespoke services in place.
The Mental health Practitioner will work from The Initial Assessment Centre (IAC) at Birley Court, which will run as an extension of Brownlow Health. The role will involve triage, taking relevant mental health history including, identifying signs of poor mental health /psychological well being and providing brief interventions, sign posting and facilitating access to appropriate support and referrals. The clinician will also provide assessment for those acutely unwell and provide prompt referral to the crisis team/urgent care services. Interpreting support will be provided.

We require applicants whose native language is not English to demonstrate their competence in the English language. This can be demonstrated by:
- Providing Certification of English proficiency

About us
Brownlow Health is a large GP training practice committed to supporting our team and developing our services. We have a diverse practice population over seven sites in the vibrant City of Liverpool. This post is to work in the Asylum Centre at Birley Court.
We offer a wide variety of specialist services, including Homelessness, Asylum Seekers/Refugees, Care homes, Student health, Sexual health, Obesity and Frailty and have a large multi -disciplinary team of Nurses, GPs, Pharmacists, Care-co-ordinators, 1st contact physios, Social prescribers, Health coaches, Drugs worker etc.
We have a large supportive nursing team of over 40, managed by three Nurse Managers and a Nurse Partner. Whilst we offer inhouse Clinical supervision and mentorship, we are happy to support external supervision to meet your needs as a specialist practitioner.

This is a part-time position over 2 days but full time can be considered if preference was to also work within one of our other practice sites.
