Job summary

Due to retirement and an ever- growing Nursing Team, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Nurse with Leadership/Management experience to join our fully established Nurse Management Team and work within our supportive and forward thinking GP Training Practice. We have a large diverse team of nurses which includes, Clinical Support Workers, ANPs, Practice Nurses, Specialist Nurses, research nurses and a Trainee Nurse Associate. You will need excellent communication and organisation skills and above all you will have the ambition and drive needed to work within an environment of change and innovation.

About us

Brownlow Health is a large GP training practice committed to supporting our team and developing our services. We have a diverse practice population over six sites in the vibrant City of Liverpool. We offer a wide variety of specialist services, including Homelessness, Asylum Seekers/Refugees, Care homes, Student health, Sexual health, Obesity and Frailty and have a large multi -disciplinary team of Nurses, GPs, Pharmacists, Care-co-ordinators, 1st contact physios, Social prescribers, Health coaches, Drugs worker etc.

We have a large supportive nursing team of over 40, managed by three Nurse Managers and a Nurse Partner.

Job description

Job responsibilities

This is a combined Clinical and Managerial position working as part of an established Nurse Management team within a large General Practice Organisation.

The post holder will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge in Advanced Nursing practice, delivering care in their designated clinical area whilst also managing, leading and supporting our growing Nursing Team.

To work collaboratively with the other Nurse Managers/Nurse Partner and Senior Management Team to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care to the whole practice population.

To provide leadership to and management of the Nursing Team across all our sites including the two site Housekeepers.

To ensure that the skills and capacity of the whole nursing team are best utilised to meeting the changing needs and demands of the Practice population.

To implement new clinical and non-clinical services and roles in accordance with the needs of the practice population.

Attend relevant meetings updating the Partners and Management Team with relevant information.

Have regular meetings with the nursing team to ensure effective communication and address any clinical or organisation issues.

Participate in the recruitment of new staff following the practice recruitment procedures, liaising with the HR and Staffing Team.

Training and Development

Work closely with the other Nurse Managers and Nurse Administrator to ensure timely completion of annual appraisals and 1:1 supervision meetings.

Ensure that all staff participate in mandatory training and participate in relevant professional updates in order to maintain their professional revalidation.

Identify training needs of the whole Nursing Team and actively promote life-long learning and continuous improvement

Learning needs should be identified during the appraisal process and relevant training identified. Applications for study leave to be applied for using the Study Leave Policy

Maintain own training and development needs to ensure effective delivery of both clinical and managerial responsibilities the role.

Actively assist and encourage the Nursing Team to develop and progress within the inhouse progression framework.

Sickness and Absence:

Manage Nursing Staff absences adhering to the Practice Sickness and Absence Policy.

Ensure all Nursing staff who have been absent have a return to work interview and are supported appropriately on their return

Strategic/Quality

Actively participate in the development of Brownlow strategies and ensure collaborative working with others to translate this into practice development to improve the quality of care such as Q.O.F, CQC, GP Specification

Able to apply the theoretical perspectives of change management to create an environment for successful change and practice development.

Able to lead on key aspects of quality assurance to develop robust outcome indicators for general practice nursing and other aspects of clinical governance.

Ensure others in general practice nursing recognise the importance of data collection and quality assurance and ensure that findings and other results are disseminated in meaningful ways to staff.

Participate in the review of learning events and complaints and any fitness to practice/competency concerns.

Where required undertake significant event auditing (or equivalent) and be skilled in undertaking objective investigations and in writing objective reports following the completion of the investigation.

Where required, liaise with other outside agencies and Liverpool Central Network.

Develop and review relevant Brownlow Policies and Procedures ensuring they are meeting CQC standards and Clinical Governance.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Whilst the post holder will work as part of a large multi -disciplinary team, they must be able to work autonomously in an area of Advance Nursing Practice and be a practicing Non-Medical Prescriber.

Facilitation of Learning:

To support the ongoing development of junior staff and colleagues and participate in monthly education updates

To provide clinical support to other disciplines as required.

To contribute in the leadership of quarterly group/1:1 Clinical Supervision sessions

Demonstrate problem-solving skills underpinned from perspectives, for example in research processes, service and quality improvement techniques, educational theory or leadership and management theory.

Participate in the implementation of Brownlow Health research projects related to general practice nursing. This may also include undertaking a piece of original research
