Job summary

The Learning Environment Facilitator will capture the current learner opportunities and work with the Primary Care Network and practices to identify potential new placements. You will be supported by the local training hub and Project Manager.

Main duties of the job

  • To gather an understanding of the existing learning environment opportunities across the whole PCN by practice
  • Develop working relationship with mentors/supervisors/trainers
  • Scope out all learning opportunities within primary and community care networks
  • Monitor student placement uptake and capacity
  • Liaison with HEIs/ further educational institutes and Training Hub about learners placements
  • Reporting placement utilisation and capacity to the Training Hub
  • Attend bi-monthly Learning Environment Facilitator meetings with the local Training Hub
  • Maintain a record of educator’s training requirements (i.e. annual trainer updates)
  • Gathering feedback from learners and educators about the placement experience
  • Engage and share learning with all stakeholders (i.e. PCN, Practices, Training Hub, other Learning Environment Facilitators)

Overall Role

The PCN Learning Environment Facilitator has delegated responsibility for providing comprehensive support to the PCN Project Manager and Training Hub Admin Manager.

They will be required to have a hands-on approach and will need to carry out work on an individual basis. They will need to engage with all stakeholders and share reports regarding placement capacity.

They will need to cascade information in an effective and efficient way.

The post holder will have a major impact in promoting a positive image of the organisation to all disciplines. It is important that the post holder has good working relations with all stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities:

Following practice policies, protocols and guidelines, the duties will include:

  • To gather an understanding of the existing learning environment opportunities across the whole PCN by practice
  • Develop working relationship with mentors/supervisors/trainers
  • Scope out all learning opportunities within primary and community care networks
  • Monitor student placement uptake and capacity

  • Understand and follow the requirements of confidentiality (including GDPR and the Freedom of Information Act and deal with queries as appropriate
  • Support the aims and objectives of the PCN and contribute to the ongoing development of the practices as required
  • Follow Brownlow Group Practice policies, including Health & Safety, Security and Confidentiality
  • Prioritise, organise and manage own and others’ workload in a manner that maintains and promotes high service and quality standards.

Training, learning and development:

  • Participate in the provision of all relevant mandatory and non-mandatory training
  • Be proactive in ensuring own development is met by attending any relevant course

Network development and clinical governance

  • Participate in PCN team meetings.

  • Provide data, as requested, for practice development plans and reports.
  • Be aware of PCN policies on risk management / incident reporting and health and safety and operate appropriate procedures for minimising risk.
  • Be aware of issues related to own development and be committed to participate in training and education.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Employees must take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of him/herself and / or others who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at work.
  • Must co-operate with the employer in so far as necessary to enable that duty or requirement to be performed or complied with.

  • A good standard of grammar and spelling in the English language
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Good keyboard skills. NVQ Level 2 as a minimum.
