Job summary
- We are one of the largest practices in Hackney with a well-established partnership and management team committed to providing excellent care to both our diverse patient group and staff alike. We are committed to training and teaching and have GP registrars, medical students and other members of the primary care team receiving training in the practice. The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
The Salaried GP will provide comprehensive primary care services to the practice patients and will work with all other colleagues to ensure the delivery of high quality primary care. The Salaried GP will support and be supported by the Primary Health Care Team and will be expected to undertake the full range of duties of a General Practitioner including some daytime on call work.
Main duties of the job
- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Be responsible for following practice protocols on computer use, audit and the maintenance of manual and computer patient records and any others as agreed by clinical staff.
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions and following the practice protocol for repeat prescriptions.
- Working to national and local guidelines and practice protocols for the provision of primary care.
- Be responsible to attending practice meetings when appropriate and practicable.
