Job summary

We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join our established team and be a part of a company that really makes a difference.

The Payroll Officer proactively assist's the HR department in providing a comprehensive, efficient, proactive, professional and customer focused payroll support service to management and employees.

Payroll officer is responsible for calculating employees compensation, updating our internal payroll databases and ensuring timely payment. To be successful in this role, you should have a flair for numbers and be able to handle sensitive information.

Duties will include Auditing, managing deductions and overtime and ensuring salary payment comply.

Main duties of the job

Duties Include

  • Prepare payroll run for monthly payroll deadlines.
  • Recording payroll data using payroll system (People XD).
  • Calculating overtime, salary increases and shift payments for all employees.
  • Processing holiday, sick and maternity pay.
  • Issuing P45s and other necessary tax forms.
  • Answering employee questions and complaints about payroll.
  • Deducting tax and national insurance payment.
  • Ensure new employee and leaver details are input and 100% accurate on the system.
  • Ensure employee pay and benefit system records are accurate.
  • Audit employee record at least once per year and update as necessary.

  • Strong Experience with Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Previous experience working in healthcare industry is desirable.
  • Proficiency in a variety of payroll software and NHS Pensions
  • Basic understanding of how to use people XD, preferably have hands-on experience utilising it.

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with payroll software (People XD).
  • Time Management
  • Math skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Sensitivity and understanding
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations (urgent deadlines)
  • Level 1 or 2 certificate in payroll is desirable.
  • 5 GCSEs at grades A-C including Maths and English is essential
