We are looking to expand our Practice
Clinical Team, for which has created an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy
Technician.
We have a patient population of around
12,200 patients and cover a demographically diverse population. The Pharmacy Technician has a key part of working through and helping to make improvements on our medicines management infrastructure at the Practice while supporting the day to day operating systems for prescribing safely, effectively and efficiently to our patients.
We have up to full time hours available, and are happy to consider full or part times for the position.
The role provides an opportunity to help us enhance our current medicines management infrastructure, work with a supportive team of colleagues on common objectives and service development as well as help us to improve the overall patient outcomes around their acute and or long term health needs.
Ideally, we would be looking to recruit
a Pharmacy Technician with experience of working within Primary Care, although
this is not essential.
Main duties of the job
Our Pharmacy Technician would work
alongside and under direction clinically from our Clinical Pharmacist and GP Partners.
Operationally, you would be accountable to the Business Manager. The role will require engagement and to work
with our current medicines management team and our Primary Care Network
Pharmacy Team.
The Pharmacy Technician workload would
be required to support the development of a safe, cost effective, efficient
practice repeat prescribing system through review, improving and implementing
medicines management processes where they are required, and where there are
benefits to both patients and the practice. In addition to this, the role would look to
manage medication queries within remit, cost saving audits and workloads,
supporting the Practice with its objectives and contractual requirements,
alongside compliance of medicines management.
You would work closely and be supported
by our GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Nurses,
Physician Associate, GPST1s alongside our Primary Care Network colleagues of
Clinical Pharmacists, Social, Health & Wellbeing Practitioners,
Occupational Therapist, First Contact Physio and Care Home Teams.

In purpose-built premises inside St
Annes Health Centre, with a current patient population of around 12,200
patients.
Located in the seaside town of St Annes
along the Fylde Coast, we are minutes away from the sea front, with direct
links to the M55 & M6.

team who are passionate about providing safe and effective care to our patient
population. Our excellent multi-skilled Clinical Team comprises of 8 GPs
(Partner & Salaried), Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacist,
Physicians Associate, Practice Nurses & Healthcare Assistants.
Supporting our Partnership, clinical
team and the patient journey through the Practice, our team also includes our
Management Team, Receptionists, Patient Advisors, Workflow Administrators, Medical
Secretaries and Medicines Management Team.
Alongside offering the standard
contractual requirements of General Medical Services in Primary Care, we do in
addition have enhanced bespoke services to our patients in Minor Surgery,
Microsuction and are also one of the Covid Vaccination sites within our Primary
Care Network.

To undertake medicines reconciliation
in accordance with practice protocols and to update patients medical
records / prescribing accordingly
To support the achievement of the
Practices prescribing objectives and targets including Quality and Outcomes
Frameworks, Local Quality Contract, Cost Saving and Enhanced Service
Specifications as directed
To undertake telephone
consultations with patients, in the context of medication reviews and other
clinical services relating to Medicines Management
Working with the Clinical Pharmacist
to contribute to the review and development of repeat prescribing protocols /
standard operating procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of
repeat prescribing systems
To provide advice to GPs, staff
and patients in changes to prescribing to support the improvement of
prescribing safety, quality and cost effectiveness
To participate in medication
audits
To assist in the appropriate
monitoring and management of prescribing budgets and to liaise with
the medicines management team at the ICB as needed and required
To support the Clinical Pharmacist
to provide medication reviews, patient information leaflets, medicines
awareness and to undertake engagement with patients and local PPG groups as

To undertake and oversee
programmes for patients in managing their medications more effectively,
considering whether repeat dispensing / meds synchronisation would be more appropriate
and applying where able.
To take a proactive approach to
the safe handling of prescriptions, including assessment of risk and making recommendations
for improvement
To respond to medication queries
from patients and staff in a professional manner referring to the appropriate
GP in accordance with practice guidelines and protocols
To assist in the submission of
claims for personally administered drugs as required.
To support the Senior Clinical
Teams with the review of hospital-initiated medication changes in
accordance with practice protocols
Highlight any medication errors /
queries, reporting any concerns to the Clinical Pharmacist / GP Partners for
review
Ensure that the medicines
management recalls are carried out / oversee that the Prescription Clerk
teams are up to date with required monitoring in line with prescribing and
any other annual recalls as are due.
To oversee and support the
medicines management workflow systems acting upon requests and ensuring that
the workflow of the systems is working effectively, and correspondence
is being actioned timely.
Provide training for practice
staff on systems for medicines management / prescribing systems and help
develop any required prescribing protocols.
Provide support the New Patient
Registration process in ensuring medical records are obtained from the
previous surgery timely, any recalls for medicines management are initiated
and their medicines management aspects are transferred as timely as possible
Support the Training Practice
elements of the Practice by way if assisting in the induction programmes of
medical students / placements / trainees, providing an overview of the
practice prescribing policies and guidance as is available
