Lead Diabetes Nurse

Job summary

Whittle Surgery is looking for a diabetic lead nurse with a background as either a DSN or a lead diabetic practice nurse.

The role will be part of our professional and competent nursing team who will also work alongside the GPs and PCN to provide diabetic care.

We are looking for an individual who is competent in injectable therapy management including insulin starts.

Main duties of the job

The main focus of the job involves managing our diabetic patients in line with current local and national guidelines.

The successful candidate may also be required to carry out other chronic disease reviews / general nursing duties dependent on skills/competencies.

About us

Whittle Surgery has just over 11,400 patients with an increasing list size.

We have a team of six GPs, three ANPs, two Practice nurses and three HCAs, along with an experienced administration team.

We are a friendly team who prides itself on providing excellent patient care. We promote a learning environment and have medical students and FY2 doctors working with the team.

Maintaining stock levels when required.

To drive and encourage the participation in Diabetes education carried out in the practice for self and other members of the team.

To provide ongoing advice and support to patients with diabetes and to other clinicians regarding the management of these patients.
