Job summary

We are looking for a positive person with a can do attitude, to Support over 150 staff from a multidisciplinary team, with day-to-day IT across 6 sites. Being first port of contact, solving or escalating and reporting to DELT shared services for further IT support for network issues. Supporting with telephony systems.

Being part of projects for improvements, running training sessions. Supporting for information governance.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a positive person with excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Expert in the in all aspects of PC services, Microsoft Office products and operating systems

A keenness to keep up to speed on trends and developments in IT, Help Desk technologies and Microsoft desk top products

Ability to work with changing, and sometimes conflicting priorities, with limited supervision.

Driving is essential for this role to support across all sites.

This post will support Beacon Medical Group in delivering operational IT support to the teams working within our 6 practices. This will involve maintaining telephone systems, IT systems including printers, workstation computers, software and hardware solutions to assist clinicians and administrative staff. Supporting Managers on projects for new system, being part of working groups supporting with knowledge.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be required to work with clinicians and managers to identify their IT need and provide technical to support them in the delivery of healthcare/planning and decision making.

To work to priorities set by the Operations manager in order to contribute to the achievement of objectives and service levels

To provide a high standard of technical support for IT equipment to all staff and stakeholders across the Group.

To install, configure, maintain and administer IT equipment and systems for safe, effective use, ensuring users are able to fully utilise all available equipment and resources.

To provide knowledge and expertise in regards to IT Equipment and to effectively support the needs and requirements of the Group.

Respond to requests from Staff for IT support and maintenance issues across the Group.

Work with external contractors being a point of contact on the site for queries, in order to enable contractors to provide a seamless integration on IT projects.

To provide training on the use of hardware and software systems for users, with supporting guides and help sheets.

To maintain and develop the Groups IT provision with the assistance of existing NHS IT providers.

Responsible for maintaining the organisations ICT and Telephony Asset Register;including ensuring processes for deployment of portable ICT/ Telephony equipment is done so in line with organisation process.

In Collaboration with the Operational Manager, review and implement ICT policies

Support the Operational Manager to ensure ICT Governance is maintained across the organisation

Support the organisation with options appraisals for the procurement of new ICT/ Telephony equipment and installations.

Act as ICT communications lead across the group, providing advice, guidance, and training to all colleagues, providing clear and regular updates to facilitate business operations to run smoothly and effectively.

Provide first and second line fault finding, diagnosis and repair to support IT users. Make effective use of the Groups BI Issue Log to respond to support requests, and to maintain records of diagnosis and resolution and relevant asset register kept up to date. Identify where support requests should be escalated internally, or to a third party to achieve resolution.

To report to managers any downtime that may affect the group, maintaining the contingencies plan, keeping managers up to date with any changes. Supporting with planning of projects that may affect the groups downtime and plan work liaising with the wider management team and bringing communications through to suitable meetings or contacts.

Support the group with homeworking equipment and software, following the groups homeworking policy and liaising with managers when this is required, supporting staff working from home and ensuing all software and equipment is suitable for use. All homeworking equipment should have suitable easy to read support guides and trouble shooting supporting.

To implement modifications and improvement where required, supporting with business case and procurement for improvements where suitable.

Maintain and assist with telephone software, handsets, photocopiers, dictation printers and any medical equipment the practice holds or uses to ensure constant running to support the practice needs. This is not exhaustive list this covers all Beacons equipment and software.

Maintain asset register for all equipment, this must be up to date at all times.

Assist with the installation, appropriate configuration and maintenance of IT equipment, infrastructure and software in accordance with relevant regulations, copyright and legal requirements. Change shall be documented and follow a set configuration procedure where available. Work carried out shall comply with health and safety requirements.

Maintain an awareness of developments in the IT industry and actively seek to develop and broaden knowledge and skills relevant to the post.

Keep an up-to-date asset log for equipment and a log of software and expiry or update timescales.

Support the group with IT projects and installations, making recommendations actively looking to improve and keep the practice up to date with technologies for improvements.

Ensure stock of consumables and parts are monitored and replenished as necessary.

Run annual audits of stock and ensuring most cost-effective supplies are acquired .

To keep up to date and attend relevant training to ensure the practice is up to date with all equipment and software following the GDPR 2018 act, assisting with DPIA where suitable.

Any other task relevant to the role that the management team and partners find suitable to support with.

To be responsible for your own continuing self-development, undertaking training as appropriate.

To undertake other duties appropriate to the grading of the post as required.
