Job summary

We are looking for a Salaried GP, 4-6 sessions.

This vacancy has arisen as one of our GPs is leaving to work abroad.

Main duties of the job

You will support the GP Partners in delivering the full range of general medical services as part of a multi-disciplinary team serving our registered population.

We are a forward thinking, teaching Practice, keen to embrace new technology and new ways of working to benefit patient care.

You would be required to provide training, supervision and mentorship to medical trainees, medical students, nurses and other allied health professionals.

About us

We are a large Practice of 15,150 patients in Sunderland North. The Practice is part of the Deep End Network delivering care to the most deprived in the area.

Our team consists of 3 GP Partners, 6 Salaried GPs, 5 ANPs, 2 PNs, 1 NA & 1 TNA, 1 Health Coach, 1 HCA, 1 Phlebotomist, 1 Clinical Pharmacist, 1 Pharmacy Technician, the PCN Team and a large Admin Team.

Job responsibilities

The postholder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a General Practitioner working within primary care, including but not limited to:

  • In accordance with the practice rota, the postholder will undertake a variety of duties including face to face, telephone and electronic consultations, home visits, checking and signing prescriptions, dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or internally referred within the practice.
  • Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Inclusion in the on-call rota, when required, triage calls, visits and checking and signing repeat prescriptions.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
  • Evidence of annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
  • General practice (Vocational Training Scheme) trained
  • On the medical performers list
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Full UK driving license

Desirable

  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Other post graduate diplomas
  • Trainer qualifications (e.g. for medical students, F2s, GP Registrars)

Experience

Essential

  • Successfully completed General Practice Specialist Training
  • Appropriate range of previous experience in hospital posts
  • Clinical and information governance
  • Self-audit and reflection
  • Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork
  • Time management and the ability to prioritise work when under pressure
  • Experience with training medical students/F2s/Registrars
  • Computer literacy

Desirable

  • Completed GP specialist training within the last 2 years
  • Experience of working with a variety of clinical software systems
