Job summary

Angmering Medical Centre & Fitzalan Medical Group are seeking an Apprentice Preregistration Pharmacy Technician to improve the quality & safety of care delivered to patients across its practices & partnership organisations

This is an exciting opportunity to undertake training for a formal professional qualification & be earning a wage with hands on learning. An opportunity has arisen for a Preregistration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) to join the medicine management & prescribing team across two local practices & to be working & training with our partnership community pharmacy to gain all knowledge needed to fulfil the apprenticeship

Our PTPT apprentice will be studying a 2 year distant learning training course with Buttercups Training which includes on the job training & assessment's, protected study time & training within our partnership community pharmacy which will also provide the training for being an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT)

At the end of the two years & subject to fulfilling the criteria needed to pass the course trainees will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council & be able to practice as a registered Pharmacy Technician

To be considered you must hold a minimum of four GCSE's at Grade C or above (4 9) (or equivalent qualifications) in English, Maths & Science subjects

To have the right to be able to work within the UK

Please note this is 2 year fixed term contract

Main duties of the job

To acquire the required academic standard, underpinning knowledge and technical skills to complete the Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship

Develop a portfolio of evidence as required

Work closely with team members to achieve workplace assessments

To undertake, with supervision, all types of medicines management and dispensary based pharmacy work across the placements appropriate to the level of knowledge and experience, in order to deliver services to patients

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Within own work area, assist and support the provision of flexible, efficient integrated pharmacy care and medicines optimisation services.

2. To rotate through pharmacy services delivered by the organisations of the partnership.

3. To successfully complete the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians to enable registration with the GPhC. This is an integrated competency and knowledge-based qualification to be delivered both by formal education & training via the Education Provider and in the workplace. The post holders progress will be monitored and supported by an Educational Supervisor.

4. To undertake, on a rotational basis, a wide range of duties which includes dispensing, medicines supply, procurement and stock control, medicines management, medicines optimisation and GP practice/PCN activities.

5. To undertake, on a rotational basis, a range of smaller taster placements deemed appropriate to provide exposure and experience relevant to pharmacy practice e.g. care homes, pharmacy production etc.

6. All duties carried out by the Integrated Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician will be under direct supervision and operating within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

7. This is a training post and therefore carries no responsibility for:

managing other staff

budget holding in any capacity

management/maintenance of any physical resources
