Job summary

We are looking for a Driver to work 9 hours transporting medication in a safe and timely manner to patients homes and community collection points across the Holderness Area. In this role, you will be a key point of contact for our patients and collection point partners so you will need good communication skills and a keen desire to give good customer service.

As part of the delivery driver role, you will assist patients and their carers by reporting their queries back to the dispensary to ensure they receive a prompt response. You will also maintain a log of all deliveries, record and collect prescription charges, organise your own route as efficiently as possible and carry out basic vehicle checks at the beginning and end of each shift.

You will be an essential part of our dispensary team and will work alongside our large team of dispensers and drivers to ensure that our patients always receive their medication on time.

Main duties of the job

This job will suit you if you enjoy being in a customer-facing role and are committed to giving high-standards of service to our patients.

You will need to act in a polite and professional manner and have the ability to follow the practices policies and procedures to ensure patient safety. It is a requirement of employment that you follow practice policy in maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

As well as good organisational and planning skills, you will be a good team player and able to work flexibly and change plans and routes when needed.

A full clean driving license if essential for this role.

We are a large rural GP practice with over 35,000 patients. We operate from 7 locations across Holderness and therefore you must be willing to provide cover between the sites as necessary. Job responsibilities

  • Deliver patients medication to their home addresses, in villages within the Practice catchment area. Follow the Standard Operating Procedures, which you will have training and awareness on and signed acknowledging the said procedures.
  • Deliver patients medication to the villages and collection points across Holderness Health.
  • Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients, their carers and the owners of the businesses in a polite and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a log of all deliveries and ensure all medication is signed for by a responsible adult, ensuring appropriate records are available for audit.
  • Record and collect the prescription charges when required and return with log of patients names for the dispensary.
  • Collect and delivery post/medical notes to site locations as requested.
  • Ensure that the delivery van is kept clean and tidy at all times and washed weekly, with no stock left in the van overnight.
