Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a bank receptionist (zero hours contract) covering holiday or sickness absence at a GP practice. Most weeks there are a number of morning or afternoon sessions that can be offered to our small pool of bank staff. The purpose of the role is to:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing
the appropriate appointments, service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient
and effective way
Offer general assistance to the Practice and
project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in
person or via the telephone
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to
assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of
clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team.
Facilitate effective communication between
patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other
associated healthcare agencies

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic
receptionist to join our established and hard working team. The role requires someone who is diligent,
friendly and capable, self motivated, a good communicator and always
striving for the best for our patients and healthcare colleagues.
Ideally the candidate will already have experience of working
in a reception environment within a healthcare setting, but this is not essential as training will be provided. Exceptional candidates without any reception experience, but with a strong and relevant background will also be considered. The job is offered as a bank zero hours
role initially, with chosen candidates likely to be be considered positively for permanent roles that may emerge in the future.
About us
We have a team of 9, mainly part-time receptionists plus additional bank receptionists, supporting a team of 5 doctors and 5 nurses/healthcare assistants. We are always striving to deliver the best possible healthcare services for our patients.
Our main site at Warmdene Surgery, situated just
two minutes off the main A27, offers bright and modern facilities with free
parking and good public transport options. We use the EMIS web clinical
system.
