Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

Main Duties are

Clinical Coder

  • To provide efficient and high-quality management of data entry (clinical coding) within patient computer records
  • To provide efficient and high-quality management of patient recall systems to ensure patient safety
  • To provide efficient and high-quality administrative support tot he Senior Administrator
  • Administration of GP2GP (registration and transfer of medical record systems) and Summary care Record Process

Correspondence Management

  • Manage clinical correspondence received by GP's, filtering some of the clinical correspondence

Administration

  • To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures

Appointments

  • Process appointment & visit requests

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinical Coder

To provide accurate data entry (medical terminology) onto patient computer system (SystmOne) from all aspects of (electronic and hard copy) of correspondence, emails and Lloyd-George records through scanning processes.

Administration of GP2GP (registration/transfer of medical record systems) and Summary Care Record Process.

To have the ability to provide accurate data entry (e.g. F12 system) and retrieve information from practice support systems e.g. eHealthscope, GP Access, GP Notis, ICE, etc.

To support the practice team with telephone queries generated from: patient, primary care, and secondary care contacts

Correspondence Management

  • Manage clinical correspondence received by GPs, filtering come of the clinical correspondence
  • Scanning correspondence onto the clinical system (SystmOne) following agreed protocols in a timely manner
  • Identify the correspondence and readcode into the patient records accurately

Administration

  • To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures
  • To work in accordance of written protocols
  • Open mail and send to appropriate designation i.e. scanning
  • Maintain filing systems in effective and efficient order

Appointments

  • Process appointment requests for today or future appointments from patients by telephone and in person
  • Deal with visits requests

Computer

  • Process patients change of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area
  • Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines, including on-line requests.
  • Make effective use of the email system

Telephone

  • Have working knowledge of telephone, during and after hours.
  • Take messages and pass them on in a timely manner if appropriate

Other Tasks

  • Ensure building security
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers
  • Leave machinery operational i.e. change the cartridge, fill with paper etc
