Job Summary.
The Post Holder will provide a point of contact for patients in an efficient and courteous manner and will undertake general reception, administrative and secretarial duties in conjunction with other practice staff. The Post Holders hours of work will be flexible to cover for periods of absence due to staff holidays or sickness. The post involves working as part of the Primary Health Care Team.
Main duties of the job
- The Post Holders duties will include -
- To fulfil the role of receptionist in such aspects as telephone duties, message taking, appointments, filing, prescription preparation, home visit requests, booking interpreters and other general duties at the discretion of the Practice Manager.
- Reception of patients at the surgery for appointments with the GP, Practice Nurse or other member of the Primary Health Care Team.
- To become fully conversant with the computer system and to have responsibility for the input of patient data.
- To be fully conversant with the scanning of patients hospital letters or other documentation into their computer medical record and to be fully conversant with the use of Docman to workflow documents.
- To be conversant with the procedure for dealing with requests, from Solicitors or other Agencies, for copies of medical records or medical reports.
- To promote good working relationship with all colleagues
- The post holder will complete the required level of safeguarding mandatory training.
- To ensure the patients right to confidentially at all times.
- To be aware of the Health and Safety regulations and to promote safe working practices.
- To attend and participate in practice meetings.
- To behave in a professional manner at all times.
- To provide cover during periods of sickness and absence.
About us
The practice is situated within the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Systems (ICS) - Oldham and delivers General Medical Services (GMS) to a patient population of about 2623. This is part of a contract held with NHS England.
The practice is single handed with one male GP, a nurse practitioner and a health care assistant. The clinical team are supported at the practice manager and a team of administrative and reception staff.
The practice is open between from 8am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday. The practice offers a range of appointment types including book on the day, telephone consultations and advance appointments.
