Job summary

Amicus Health is looking for salaried GPs to join our dynamic, cohesive and expanding team, up to 6 sessions.

Working across two sites our multidisciplinary clinical team of 8 partners, 15 salaried GPs, 9 Practice Nurses and HCAs, strive to deliver excellent primary care to our 17,500 patients. Due to our growing list size, we are looking for a caring and committed salaried doctor to join us.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and associated work and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Making decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Amicus Health was borne from the merger of Clare House and Bampton Surgeries, and provides care for over 17,000 patients across Tiverton and Bampton.

Amicus Health has a team of over 80 staff, including GPs, Nurses, HCAs and a strong administrative function. Despite the size of the organisation, there is still a "family" ethos.
