Main duties of the job
This role will involve both patient-facing and telephone duties, as well as general administrative tasks. No two days are the same! Our reception team are responsible for booking appointments, providing patients feedback regarding results, supporting our clinical staff with administrative duties, amongst much more. Flexibility in terms of hours is essential to cover other staff leave and absences.

We are a very busy GP surgery based at the modern Valley Centre in St Anns, Nottingham. With over 10,000 patients, there is never a dull moment! We have a great team working with us, many of whom have been here for years.We are a training practice, supporting the training of multiple GP registrars each year - many of whom have returned to work with us following completion of their training!

Job responsibilities
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
- Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
- Enter requests for home visits on to the computer system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to on call GP.
- Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours.
- Prepare lists and notes for all surgeries and clinics held, ensuring completion of all associated paperwork.
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non Personal Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
- Enter patient information on to the computer as required.
- Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the Practice Manager.
- Support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues.
- Participate in any training programme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment
