Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team in Wythenshawe, Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established practice serving a diverse population with high clinical need.

The role offers a structured Tuesday to Thursday working pattern, based on-site at the practice.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient-centred care through:
    • Face-to-face consultations
    • Telephone and online consultations
    • On-call responsibilities (fixed day within sessions)
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions
  • Undertake clinical decision-making, prescribing, and referrals
  • Complete associated clinical administration (results, prescriptions, referrals, correspondence)
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, pharmacists, and ARRS staff
  • Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Working Pattern

  • 5 to 6 sessions per week
  • Working days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  • Each session includes:
    • Clinical consultations (face-to-face, telephone, online, and on-call)
    • Associated administrative time
  • On-call duties are allocated as a fixed day and are included within sessions

Job description

Job responsibilities

Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract and additional enhanced services where appropriate.

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including face-to-face consultations, online consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

To record clear and concurrent computer based consultation notes to agreed standards using EMIS web.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

Providing counselling and health education.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Collecting data for audit purposes.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Contribute to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) activities as part of routine clinical care, in line with British Medical Association guidance.

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
