Job summary

The Uplands Medical Practice is a 8500 patient NHS practice based in Bury. We operate in the Whitefield area and are located less than 1 mile from junction 17 of the M60 and a 5 minute walk from Whitefield Metrolink Station.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished, highly motivated and versatile Practice Business and Operations Manager to lead and develop services at the Practice.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone with strong leadership interpersonal skills who is proactive, innovative, has excellent organisational skills, can think strategically. You must always have patient care at the heart of your work and a passion for providing an excellent customer service. You must be highly IT literate, financially astute and have HR and Line Management skills across multi-disciplinary teams.

You will work alongside the Senior Partner contributing to strategic decision making and therefore will have a robust knowledge of strategic business management along with an excellent knowledge of GP Practice Financial management.

You will need to have the skills to resolve and manage issues as they arise, be able to prioritise your workload, be flexible for the needs of the business, work within a team setting and able to consider business constraints and service user needs. You will also need to have a consistent and compassionate approach with our service users at all times.

About us

The team consists of GPs, practice pharmacist, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Health care assistants, GP assistant, Practice Support Officer, care navigators and medical secretaries.

This will include would be working closely with the senior partner in feeding into and implementing the business development plan.

The post holder would be supported by and expected to collaborate with external governance and quality advisors engaged by the senior partner to drive compliance with CQC compliance.

We are looking for someone on a full time basis.

The salary would be circa £40k per annum and would attract a bonus on achieving key performance indicators including QOF and PCN DES indicators.

  • Educated to degree level in healthcare or business
  • Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Leadership and / or Management Qualification
  • Experience of managing accounting procedures including budget and cash flow forecasting
  • Experience of working in a health care setting in NHS
  • Experience of managing large multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of performance management, including appraisal writing, staff development and disciplinary procedures
  • Experience of successfully developing and implementing projects
  • Experience of workforce planning, forecasting and development
  • NHS / Primary Care General Practice experience
  • Relevant health and safety experience
  • Experience of chairing meetings, producing agendas and minutes
  • Ability to exploit and negotiate opportunities to enhance service delivery
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presenting)
