Oaks Healthcare

Practice/Research Nurse

The closing date is 24 March 2026

Job summary

The postholder will work across two complementary functions: delivering high quality clinical care as a Practice Nurse while supporting the development and delivery of research activity within the practice. In the Practice Nurse capacity, the role provides evidence based nursing care health promotion, long term condition support, and participation in national screening and vaccination programmes. In the Research Nurse capacity, the postholder contributes to the safe and effective running of clinical research studies, including patient recruitment, informed consent, data collection, and adherence to study protocols and governance requirements.

This dual role strengthens the practices commitment to excellent patient care and innovation. The postholder will balance routine clinical duties with research responsibilities, ensuring that both areas are delivered to a high standard, in line with NMC requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and local governance frameworks. Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, the role supports improved patient outcomes, contributes to the evidence base for primary care and enhances the practices capacity to participate in high quality research.

Main duties of the job

This is a dual clinical and research position, combining the core responsibilities of a Practice Nurse with the exciting opportunity to work as a Research Nurse within a supportive, forward thinking GP practice.

As a Practice Nurse, you will deliver safe, evidence based care including long term condition reviews, immunisations, cervical screening, wound care health promotion, and support for national screening and vaccination programmes. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide high quality, person centred care to our patients.

As a Research Nurse, you will play a key role in the delivery of primary care research studies. This includes identifying and recruiting eligible patients, supporting informed consent, collecting high quality data, and ensuring all research activity meets Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and governance standards. You will help strengthen our commitment to innovation and contribute to improving outcomes for our local population.
