Job summary

Oaks Healthcare wish to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team of clinicians. The successful candidate will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols

You will support the administration of the practices chronic disease management recall programme and act as the practice liaison with the wider community team in respect of arranging meetings and general communication. You will understand the need toensure that patient confidentiality is observed and maintained at all times.

Main duties of the job

  • New patient health checks
  • NHS health checks
  • ECG recording
  • Phlebotomy
  • Administration of influenza and pneumococcal vaccines and B12 injections
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Wound management
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations and coil fittings
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
  • Administration of practices chronic disease recall programme
  • Stock control

Oaks Healthcare is a GP Practice and we have a purpose-built medical facility Waterlooville, Hampshire. We deliver quality patient care for our 17000 patients and our team of clinicians is supported by our 9 GP's, Nurse Manager and Deputy Nurse Manager.

  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE Grade C in Maths and English
  • Evidence of completion of secondary education
  • A demonstrable commitment to professional development
  • Sound written skills
  • Sound time management skills
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in writing and verbally
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Ability to use initiative and capable of making decisions within the scope of the post

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Competent in basic health care duties as required for the post
  • Experience of phlebotomy
  • Relevant health care assistant experience
  • HCA primary care experience
  • Experience of Emis IT clinical system
