Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Deputy Practice Manager who can demonstrate excellent leadership skills and is well organised with a passion for delivering high standards. Ideally you will have previous GP Practice Assistant Management experience or similar. However we will consider an exceptional candidate if able to demonstrate the necessary transferable skills. This is a full time role, Mon-Fri (flexible - potential over a 4 day week)

About us we are a very friendly, well-established practice working in a purpose built building in Erdington, Birmingham

We have two GP partners, 4 salaried GPs, Paramedic Diabetic Specialist Nurse, Practice Nurses and HCAs, all of which are supported by our experienced administration team. We also have ARRS roles linked to the Practice. We are a GP training practice and teach Birmingham Medical students.

The Dove Medical Practice is a GMS non-dispensing practice and look after approx. 10,000 patients with a growing list size. We are incredibly proud of how we provide care for our patients. We have a friendly team philosophy. We respect, listen to and value all members of our team. We are rated as CQC Good and are a high QOF achieving practice. We have a dedicated admin manager who oversees all elements of QOF and local and national enhanced services.

Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Practice Manager in the smooth and efficient running of the practice. This includes dealing with patient queries and complaints, HR, and training and development of the staff.

Working closely with the Admin Manager and Lead Receptionist to support the team. Plus any other administrative duties required. The Deputy Practice Manager will also represent the Practice Manager and practice in general at external meetings as and when required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NHS/Primary Care General Practice experience.
  • Working knowledge of the clinical system EMIS
  • Management experience.
  • Experience of working with the general public.
  • Good communicator (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-direct own workload.
  • IT proficient, able to work with email, the internet and windows based software including Outlook, Word and Excel at intermediate level. To learn new software packages as required.
  • Ability to motivate staff.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of PCN.
  • Knowledge of QOF and local enhanced services.
  • Understanding of CQC.
  • General Practice policies and procedures.
  • Familiar with TEAMNET.
  • Experience of producing agendas and minutes for meetings.
  • Experience of performance management, including appraisal writing, staff development and disciplinary procedures.
