Job summary
Due to forthcoming retirements we have vacancies in our Reception Team. Applicants should have at least 12 months experience of working in a busy reception setting and be available to work 25-37 hours a week.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality reception and appointment service to patients
Provide a professional and friendly welcome to all visitors at reception.
Ensure patients who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non disruptive manner.
Operate the appointments system to ensure a smooth flow of patients to consulting
rooms and clinics.
To provide an efficient and high quality service to doctors and other staff
Acting as chaperone as required (after appropriate training).
Ensure the practice telephone system operates effectively and that calls are logged
and effectively signposted as necessary Any other duties considered appropriate to the post allocated by the Practice
Manager and Deputy Practice Manager
About us
Bassett Road Surgery is a well-established
training practice in Leighton Buzzard, a pleasant market town of 53,000 on the
Grand Union Canal in South Bedfordshire. We are one of three practices in the
town, and have a growing list size of 21,000 and dispense to about 10% of our
patients.
The practice comprises seven partners and five salaried GPs working
from purpose-built premises which have recently been extended and refurbished.
We have minor illness nurses and complex needs matrons who work with our more
vulnerable patients. In addition we have two clinical pharmacists and a full
complement of practice nurses, HCAs, dispensers and phlebotomy staff.

Our reception team comprise full and part-time colleagues who cover the practice day from 0800 until 1900 hrs* (* Wednesdays we extend our hours to 0700 - 2000 hrs.)
All team members work a combination of morning and evening shifts which, once contracted, remain the same. (We do not rotate shifts but do ask for holiday and sickness absence of colleagues.)
