Job summary

Meon Health Practice are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Minor Illness Nurse to join our Partnership. The successful candidate will be joining a well established team of ANP's, Minor Illness Nurse and Triaging GP dealing with same day access patients. You will triage and prioritise the needs of patients on the same day access list and undertake assessment, investigation, treatment and advice to patients.

The hours are 10 hours per week worked flexibly for the right candidate. This is a temporary position for 1 year.

Main duties of the job

Act as an expert practitioner, demonstrating clinical competence and a sound knowledge base.

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver safe and high-quality care

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients who require medical attention.

Triage and treat patients, performing specialist assessment of their needs and make referrals as necessary to other members of the primary and secondary health care teams as appropriate.

The role requires you to function autonomously and within the sphere of competency whilst being assisted and supervised by our Advance Nurse Practitioners and Triaging GP.

Adhere to the NMC code of conduct.

Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective

COMMUNICATION

Utilise and demonstrate sensitive communication styles, to ensure patients are fully informed and consent to treatment

Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating

JOB DESCRIPTION MINOR ILLNESS NURSE

JOB SUMMARY: The post holder must be a registered nurse with the experience of assessing patients, planning their care and administer treatment. They must act within their professional boundaries, providing care for the presenting patient, working within their competencies. This will involve telephone triage/consultation, history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation of their care.

Reports to: Managing Director

Accountable to: GP Partners

KEY TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend and participate in nurse practice meetings
  • Assist in the formulation of practice strategy and policy
  • Manage and assess risk within the areas responsibility, ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect staff and patients
  • Undertake mandatory and statutory training

Apply infection control measures within the practice according to local and national guidelines
