Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated GP to join our friendly and supportive practice team for a maternity locum role.
This part time position is 4 clinical sessions per week on a fixed-term contract. The post is for an initial 6 months period with the possibility of an extension for a further 6 months. We would be looking for the successful candidate to start in July or early August 2025. There is some flexibility around the working days

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely manner.

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
The delivery of highly effective medical care to the practice population
The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
Effective management of long-term conditions
Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF
Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
Prepare and complete the revalidation process
Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

- This role requires a highly skilled and compassionate medical professional committed to delivering excellent primary care within the NHS framework.
- Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB) or equivalent medical qualification from a recognised university.
- GMC Registration: Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current Licence to Practise.
- GP Register: Included on the GMC GP Register.
- CCT/CEGPR: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice or Certificate Confirming Eligibility for GP Registration (CEGPR).
- National Performers List: Included on or eligible for inclusion on the National Medical Performers List for England.
- Indemnity: Appropriate medical defence indemnity (e.g., MPS/MDU).
- Right to Work: Eligibility to work independently in the UK.
- Immunisation Status: Satisfactory immune status for relevant viruses (e.g., Hepatitis B).
