This role is to help and support patients both face to face and over the phone for a wide range of enquiries including triaging patients to ensure the most appropriate pathway of care is offered.
You will be the initial point of contact between the patient and the wider team. Our team members need to be approachable, friendly, confident, understanding and will help patients feel at ease and listened to, whilst remaining professional and courteous at all times.
We work with a patient centred approach and have a high standard of patient care at all times.
Main duties of the job
- Dealing with enquiries both face to face and over the phone
- Ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate healthcare professional
- Booking appointments and re arranging where appropriate
- Logging attendances of patients
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
- Taking messages and distributing the information to the appropriate person(s)
- Responding to requests from patients, team members and other healthcare providers
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
- Data entry/data allocation, collation, processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
- Registration of new patients
- Filing, photocopying and scanning of documents
- Tidying and restocking of the consulting rooms and reception area
- Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy
- Providing refreshments for the team and visitors
- Keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy
- Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols.
About us
Beechwood Surgery is a small practice with a patient population of around 2600.
The team consists of one GP partner, three locum GPs, two part time practice nurses, four receptionists and three administration team members. We have a strong work ethic, assisting, helping and supporting each other along the way.
We are also a training practice were we support student doctors who are mid way through their medical training programme.
We are part of the Wyre Integrated Network (WIN), Primary Care Network (PCN) which comprises of four local GP Practices based in Thornton and Poulton.
The WIN PCN team works between the four surgeries and comprises of paramedics, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, first contact physiotherapist, GP assistants, social prescribers and care co-ordinators.
