PCN Pharmacy Technician

37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 09.00 to 17.00

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our Primary Care Network in Portsmouth.

Main duties of the job

You will provide ongoing support to our GP's, Pharmacy Team, other clinical and non clinical staff; arranging discharge summaries, medication reviews and repeat prescribing processes.

About us

The Brunel Primary Care Network consists of three Practices across Portsmouth; East Shore Partnership, The Lighthouse Group and University Surgery.

We have highly skilled and motivated teams working within our PCN, which consist of GP Partners, Salaried GP's, Physician Associates, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Diabetes and Respiratory Nurse Specialists, Nurses, GP Assistant'sand HCA's; who are supported by skilled administration teams.

Job responsibilities

The Pharmacy Technician will:

Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Be enrolled on, undertaking or qualified from, an approved training pathway.For example, the Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP)or Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH) or courses approvedby the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) as meeting therequirements of the UK-wide APTUK/PCPA National CompetencyFramework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians.

Undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effectivemedicines use, through shared decision-making conversations withpatients.

Resolve daily prescription queries with the Prescription Support Assistants, Prescriptions Administrators and other practice Staff, within their area of competency and where appropriate forward queries to the Practice Pharmacist/Duty GP.

Support the team with repeat prescription processes, ensuring they are safe and timely.

Ensure that the practice is up to date, informed, and complaint with medicine safety alerts and action any changes independently as required.

Support with the management and implementation of shared care protocols and liaise with a Clinical Pharmacist for more complex patients.

Carry out medicines optimisation tasks.

Provide training and support on the legal, safe and secure handling ofmedicines, including the growth of implementation of the Electronic PrescriptionService (EPS) specifically in relation to electronic repeat dispensing.

  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • Medicines reconciliation certificate or equivalent

Experience

  • Experience of prescribing/clinical systems such as SystmOne

  • Recent previous experience within comparable role in General Practice
  • Previous experience working within a patient facing role.

  • Ability to work flexibly and travel between sites as and when required
