Job summary
We are seeking a receptionist, preferably with past general practice or NHS experience. The successful candidate will receive, assist and care navigate
patients to accessing the appropriate service or health care professional in a
courteous, efficient and effective way.You will also provide assistance to the Practice
Team and project a friendly and positive image to patients and other visitors,
either in person or via the telephone.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post will include;
Open the premises at the start of the day when
first to arrive, de-activate alarm and make all necessary preparations to
receive patients.
When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure
that the building is totally secured, internal lights are off, and the alarm is
activated following the locking up checklist.
Care Navigation signpost patients to the most
appropriate service
Ensure all new patients are registered onto the
computer system promptly and accurately, ensuring they are within the Practice
boundary.
Explain Practice arrangements and formal
requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure
procedures are completed.
Deal with all general enquiries, explain
procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
Chaperone patients as and when required.
Action medication queries, repeat prescriptions,
online repeat prescription requests in a prompt manner.
About us
The Medical Group is a large, friendly GP Practice working
across five surgery sites.
The successful applicant will preferably have past GP
practice experience as well as excellent customer service and reception skills.
The post is a permanent position on completion of successful six month
probationary period.
A driving licence is essential as you may be required to
work at one of our other surgery sites from time to time.

Advise patients of relevant charges for private
services (Non General Medical Services) and accept payment.
Provide general support to clinicians,
management team and other health professionals.
Provide cover for colleagues in the event of
sickness and shortage which may involve changing shift times/days and surgery
base.
Work extended hours service as required.
Monitor and maintain the reception area and
notice boards.
