Here at Billinghay Medical Practice, we have an exciting
opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join the team. We are
looking for the right candidate to work 2 days a week, alongside the
experienced clinical team comprising of GP's, Nurse Practitioner, MSK, Mental Health Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacist and more roles.
The contracted hours would be:
Thursday: 8:30-17:30
Friday: 8:00-18:30

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would work as part of an excellent,
experienced clinical team, who remain adaptable and considerate to changes
within General Practice and the NHS.
The successful candidate will triage and support patients presenting with undifferentiated physical and mental health conditions. This will include history taking, physical assessment, undertaking investigations to inform clinical decision-making to establish a diagnosis and management plan in collaboration with the patient and the families or carers. This can also include gathering clinical information for onwards referrals.
A sensitive and empathetic approach alongside a flexible,
cooperative, professional nature and the desire to put patient safety and
quality of service at the forefront are essential characteristics that we will
be looking for.
About us
Billinghay Medical Practice is a rural and caring practice which
provides a range of services for the 5,000 patients who are registered with us.
We have a skilled and experienced team comprising of 3 GPs, 3
Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Care Co-ordinator and an excellent nursing team.
Alongside these we have a highly motivated and competent Reception / Administration
and Dispensary teams.

The following are the core responsibilities of a Nurse Practitioner. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be
dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
Receive and review patients with undifferentiated and
undiagnosed problems and make an assessment of their healthcare needs. This can be face-2-face, (including home
visiting), telephone / video call or remote digital triage
Manage patients presenting with a range of acute and
chronic medical conditions, by assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing
and referrals
Identify, manage and support patients at risk of
developing long-term conditions, preventing adverse effects to the patients health
Break bad news to patients/parents/carers and provide
appropriate ongoing support to meet identified needs
Provide advanced, specialist nursing care to patients as
required in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the BNF guidelines
Request, process and interpret pathology services as
necessary
Undertake in vaccinations such as the flu vaccination
Act as clinical governance lead for the Practice in areas
of special interest and ensure significant events are reported using Practice
procedures.
Undertake the Practice Duty role and support the team in
dealing with clinical emergencies
To maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the
computer using agreed Read Codes.
To collect data and participate in regular Practice audit
and research projects.
To contribute to the preparation of any Practice
development plans.
