Job summary

Working within the practice clinical team the phlebotomist will be proficient in taking blood samples from patients, as required.

Main duties of the job

The phlebotomist will be responsible to the Practice Lead Nurse, but work under the direction of the nursing team depending on the rota of the day.

The phlebotomist will collect blood samples from patients in line with specific directions, practicing proper patient identification and labelling vials accurately.

The successful candidate must maintain high standards of infection control at all times when working with patients and equipment, keeping the phlebotomy room tidy at all times.

Expect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health status and be mindful of patient welfare, reporting any safeguarding concerns to line manager.

College Way Surgery is based in Taunton, offering Primary Care services to over 13,700 patients from our purpose built premises. The practice clinical team is made up of 11 GP Partners, 6 nurses, 2 HCAs and 2 Phlebotomists.

Job responsibilities
