Job summary

We are a friendly and supportive team which is looking to expand by recruiting a clinical coder/scanner. We are CQC rated "Outstanding" and are working towards the Better Health at Work award which focuses on supporting our staff's health and well-being.

We are located on the border of Sunderland and County Durham and benefit from excellent transport links.

Main duties of the job

The role will be suitable for individuals who enjoy data inputting, coding and filtering correspondence to the most appropriate team members to help maximise patient care. The post-holder will oversee the administration of patients records and systems to ensure data quality. Code and link problems appropriately into a patients record.

About us

We are a friendly and supportive team looking after a population of 9300 patients. We are a training practice and host medical students from Newcastle and Sunderland Universities, in addition to GP registrars.

Job responsibilities

*To input patient information on to clinical systems, oversee the administration of patient records and systems and ensure data quality. Code and link each problem appropriately into a patients record, paper or electronic.

*Ensure that the filing and recording of patient information is promptly handled with care and in line with practice policies and procedures

* Workflow to appropriate team/clinician for detailed actions identified on the correspondence

*Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with the practice procedures

* Participate in ongoing formal training in accordance with national standards and Practice requirements to update and maintain skills and knowledge.

* Promote and improve awareness of clinical coding, communicating to clinical and management staff the complex rules of coding and its financial effects.

* Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running of service delivery
