Job overview

The Rural Practice Network is a group of five forward-thinking and successful surgeries in South Somerset. Our member practices include Millbrook Surgery, Queen Camel Medical Centre, Milborne Port Surgery, Wincanton Health Centre and Bruton Surgery.

Due to the continued success of our Covid19 Vaccine Programme we have increased our capacity and are expanding out team of registered and lay vaccinators

We are committed to phase two of the programme and will be vaccinating cohort 10 and beyond. We have also opened up our clinics to the national booking service (119) giving the people of Somerset an additional choice of venue for their vaccination.

Main duties of the job

  • Vaccination of patients with Pfizer (registered vaccinators only) and AstraZeneca vaccines in line with local and national guidance
  • Understanding eligibility for vaccination in line with JCVI guidance and where to seek guidance regarding eligibility and issues
  • Able to explain the basics of how the vaccine works, what it contains and why, how it has been trialled, any contraindications or precautions and possible side effects and how to treat them.
  • Preserving a safe and effective working environment for patients and staff

About us

Our vaccination clinics are highly organised and professional. Practice and attached staff morale is high and our team enjoy working together and collaborating on this important service. Our programme has been so successful we have moved to a bigger site and opened our clinics up to the national booking service (119). This is a flexible contract allowing you decide which clinics you are available for, meaning you can fit it in alongside any other commitments.

We are really proud of the high-performing vaccination team we have built; this is reflected in the cheerful atmosphere at our clinics and the patient feedback (warning, we get lots of biscuits!). We host our clinics at the stunning Haynes Motor Museum which is a really attractive place to work. This is an opportunity to work with a team of professionals from across all healthcare and community disciplines.
