Job summary
We are looking to recruit a qualified
Medical Secretary to joint our existing Secretarial team. We have a
multi-skilled MDT approach which includes a team of doctors, Nursing team, ECP and Paramedics and Nurse Practitioners. The clinical team is
supported by a full Admin team as part of a busy semi-rural practice.
We are looking for 15 hours per week covering secretarial work within a small team, working at our office accommodation at the Chy Trevail site in Bodmin.There are some admin aspects to the role, alongside minute taking and other duties.
We have excellent staff retention
rates and a Good QCQ rating. Our clinical system is EMIS Web
Main duties of the job
- To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for the practice as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, etc. in an accurate and quality manner, and filing appropriately in electronic form. This requires understanding the context of the audio/written dictation and at times rearranging/rewording.
- Minute taking at meetings as required.
- Knowledge and use of e-Referral Service including monitoring of website and reporting of problems to the Referral Management Service and familiarity with referral pathways/criteria.
- Knowledge and use of Maxims system for obtaining reports
- Ensure results/reports are brought to the attention of clinicians in a timely manner.
- Daily monitoring of email (own and bosvena.secretary@nhs.net) and action appropriately. Awareness of and compliance with methods of secure email
- Dealing with patients and hospitals etc on the telephone.
- To receive incoming, and initiate outgoing, telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
- To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
- Knowledge/awareness of practice policies and procedures that are relevant to this post/practice
- To report Significant Events (both good and bad!) via the appropriate route.
About us
We are a semi-rural practice based in Bodmin but covering rural areas within a 10 mile radius of the town. We are a large friendly team, and operate over 5 sites (3 clinical and 2 admin). We are part of the 3 Harbours and Bosvena Primary Care Network, and work closely with our neighbouring practices. We are a training practice and look to support Medical Students, Nursing and other students alongside hosting GP registrars. We have an open-learning culture and have a monthly Practice Learning Session for protected time to support staff, development, learning and well being.
