Main duties of the job
Main Duties and
Responsibilities:
1. To meet and greet
patients, members of the public and visitors to the practice in a friendly and
courteous manner
2. To direct patients to the
appropriate professional, known as signposting
3. Make appointments for
patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the primary health care team on
the computer
4. Complete surgery lists
when required
5. Register new patients on
the computer system
6. Opening and distribution
of post
7. Operate repeat
prescription system as directed
8. Understand the usage of
the practice email and intranet system
9. Assist in the closing and
securing of the building at the end of the working day
10. Comply with all in house
and statutory Health & Safety procedures
11. Attend practice meetings
12. Attend training courses
in house and externally to develop expertise and further knowledge
13. Any duty that may be
properly deemed by the Reception Manager, Practice Manager or Doctors to be part
of the role of receptionist
