Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a High intensity Cognitive Behaviour Therapist to join our Adult Mental Health Neurodevelopmental Lifespan Service in Canterbury, to provide a specialist psychological assessment and therapy service. To offer advice and consultation on clients psychological care to colleagues and to other, non-professional carers. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of Psicons policies and procedures.

Reports to: Clinical Lead and Service Lead

Accountable to: Director of Operations and Managing Director.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties

Assessment and treatment of adults with mental health problems.

Assessment and treatment of adults with neurodiversity as part of the Adapted CBT for autism and ADHD service.

Act as a core member of the Adult Mental Health Service at Psicon.

Contribute as a clinician, to the smooth running of services including the general business of Psicon.

Consider service development opportunities with the management team at Psicon.

Direct Psychological Interventions

As a High Intensity Therapist to contribute to the assessment of patients presenting with mental health problems using skills and expertise.

To offer psychological treatment programmes to patients with adult mental health difficulties as well as patents with a diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD.

To support and treat patients with complex presentation, focus to include dual diagnosis (for example patients with mental health difficulties and neurodevelopmental conditions).

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients.

Indirect Clinical Work

Able to consider information from assessment and formulate treatment plans, prepare thorough clinical reports of the highest standard, and be able to communicate conclusions and recommendations after assessment to clients and other relevant parties if appropriate.

Contribute to Adult Mental Health Service team meetings.

Supervision

Attend regular clinical supervision.

Training

To complete mandatory training as required by the service.

To complete Adult Safeguarding Training at Level 3.

To contribute to training initiatives (internal and external) at Psicon as required.

General

To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, and in consultation with the Director and the HR & operations manager.

To contribute to the development and articulation of best practice in psychology across the service, by continuing to develop the skills of a reflexive and reflective scientist practitioner, taking part in supervision and appraisal and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in the field of psychology and related disciplines.

To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice.

To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health.
