Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly and supportive Primary Care Team within a busy General Practice.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the nursing team to deliver high-quality patient care and undertake a wide range of clinical and administrative duties.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake core HCA duties including observations (BP, pulse, BMI, urinalysis)
  • Perform venepuncture, ECGs, and NHS Health Checks (if trained)
  • Support chronic disease monitoring and health promotion
  • Maintain accurate patient records using clinical systems
  • Ensure a clean, safe clinical environment in line with infection control policies
  • Work collaboratively with the wider practice team

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable- flexible and self-motivated
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant or in a healthcare setting
  • Experience in General Practice or Primary Care
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3, Care Certificate)
  • Phlebotomy and/or ECG experience
  • Knowledge of clinical systems (e.g. EMIS/SystmOne)
