Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior manager with an ambition to progress and a demonstrable track record covering HR, IT and facilities management. Experience of working in primary care is desirable but applications are welcomed from managers who can demonstrate they have the transferable skills required.

Main duties of the job

The role of Operations Manager supports the Practice Manager to improve services and patient experience and is part of a seven strong senior management team. With direct line management of the Operations Support Manager, secretarial, administrative and care navigation teams, the Operations Manager coordinates all aspects of patient services, premises and health and safety management.

  • Experience of working directly with members of the public, contractors and suppliers and monitoring of service standards.
  • Experience of purchasing and negotiating to ensure value for money.

  • Experience of workforce planning, forecasting and development.
  • Experience of HR management including performance management, appraisal writing, staff development and disciplinary procedures.
  • Experience of chairing meetings, producing agendas and minutes.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting/NHS/Primary Care General Practice.
  • Experience of contract management, business development, continuity planning and facilities management.
  • Experience of health and safety requirements within a busy, publicly accessed environment with a knowledge of current legislation and the ability to apply these pragmatically through appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Experience of troubleshooting IT hardware and software issues.
